Mark Twain

Coon joined the St. Joseph School District in 2022 from the Mid-Buchanan School District, where she spent 17 years serving as a kindergarten, preschool, and special education teacher. Her final three years at Mid-Buchanan were spent as the district’s Special Services Director. She currently serves as principal of Mark Twain Early Learning Center.

Coon earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Missouri Western State University with certifications in Early Childhood, Early Childhood Special Education, and Cross Categorical. She also holds a master’s degree in Education from Baker University and earned her Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership–Director of Special Education from Arkansas State University in 2019.

Throughout her career, Coon has received training in Project Construct, Conscious Discipline, Orton-Gillingham, and Intensive Teaching. She is passionate about supporting young learners and meeting the needs of students and families in the St. Joseph community.

Coon is married to her husband, Gregg, and they have two children.
